Firstly we would like to say that we really care about the town of Dewsbury! There is some fantastic heritage within the town, most notably represented by the amazing buildings we have which is celebrated by a number of very talented people around the town. Some of our members have grown up in the local area and lived here our entire lives. As children we remember how much of great place Dewsbury was to not only come shopping during the day, but also its evening entertainment and nightlife; it was a thriving town. Many of us now have children and see our future staying within the town, we want that thriving enjoyable town restored to its former glory for our children and everyone who lives here.

We believe that everything we want to achieve both now and in the future is a stepping stone to helping bring back some of that former glory. We believe that all our aims are designed in a way that will not only create opportunities for anyone wishing to better themselves, but also contribute to the growth of the town.

THE HIVE

The Hive has been created as part of the long term aspirations of The Dewsbury Pioneers CIC.

We are bringing together retailers and artisans looking for short term retail space and new customers. We provide a minimized risk environment for those wishing to trial new and homemade products or sell already established items but to a new and wider market.

The retail market is changing and while long term leases are fine for large retail chains, we feel the need for more flexible affordable retail space for small manufacturers is growing. Online sales are fine, however more and more people wish to make a physical connection with the product they wish to buy. Customers are also looking for a new experience and The Hive is set up exactly to do that. Not only will it offer a retail experience but it will also offer its customers and retailers an opportunity to interact and influence developments within the town, as they work alongside us and other groups, taking part in events and helping to develop what we believe will ultimately help us achieve our desired goals.

WHAT WILL THE HIVE OFFER?

Touch Down Space:

Upstairs in the Hive we have a whole level that will be dedicated to the use of office style desk space. But with a difference! There will be nothing like it within Dewsbury or the surrounding area due to how it will look and feel. Instead of a basic desk and chair, you can work from a picnic bench or a breakfast bar or even a big comfy beanbag if that’s what you prefer. We hope to attract new entrepreneurs, students, local groups or anyone in general who needs somewhere to work from or make use of the space.

We will provide an attractive space to work from, access to WiFi, printing and some basic office supplies depending on the needs of the individual or group.
Again in keeping with the overall look of The Hive this will be no ordinary office space. It will be a unique and comfortable place to work from.

Box Store:

For retailers there is a large range of display unit’s available dependent on the product you wish to sell.

For your customers it is home to a unique collection of independent homemade goods, artists and designers! We have everything on sale from Art, Fashion, Vintage, Jewellery, Accessories, Home-ware and Gifts, for our towns first box store which sees all local independents finest creations on sale within individual box displays and from a funky, unique and modern selling point!

Chat ‘n’ Chill:

The idea is this space will be used by anyone. Anyone who wishes to express an idea or has something they wish to contribute can come in, sit and have a chat.
Part of our long term aims as mentioned above, is to help restore the growth of the town. We see this as the perfect place to share/compare ideas and pro-actively talk about this subject. It will be an area surrounded by local art work and historical references. It will be a relaxing environment where anyone can come in, have a hot or cold drink and have a friendly chat. It will also include our own little personnel touch regarding this matter to fall in line with the whole look and feel of the hive.

Hours of Business

Currently closed unless for public events. Open in September.
